Arkansas small business grants

My friend, Timothy Lee, at Land of Opportunity small business blog is posting information on small business grants each week. Here’s Timothy’s latest post:

    “Matthew Lesko’s small business grants commercial appears on Little Rock cable with regular frequency. A recent visitor to the Land of Opportunity had been searching on Google for “Arkansas small business grants.” Backtracking from my statistics, I discovered a link to “Matthew Lesko Arkansas State Small Business Grants,” just below the link to the Land of Opportunity. Mr Lesko’s link and corresponding page were laced with keywords like: Free Business Government Grants, Free Government Business Money, and Woman Business Grants.

Free Demographics Data

Betsy Martin, Research Specialist at the Arkansas SBDC, announced recently that she had acquired three new books with demographic data on Arkansas. What follows is a mini-compendium of FREE demographic sources for small businesses.

Books. The Statistical Abstract of the United States is a compendium of all the offical government statistics that you find scattered about the .gov domain. In addition to the ASBDC Research Center, you’ll find this book of statistical treasure in all federal repository libraries and probably your own local library on the reference shelf. (more…)

The Safest & Riskiest Small Businesses

Patrick O’Rourke, a CPA in Washington DC, has posted a list of Safest & Riskiest Small Businesses on his BizStats.com website. Patrick compares relative percentages of profitable and loss for businesses in a given industry. A high percentage of profitability is defined as “safe.”

Arkansas Tsunami Tax Incentive Credit (ATTIC)

Gov. Mike Huckabee has announced that any contributions made this month for tsunami relief efforts may be claimed on state tax returns filed this year for tax year 2004. Huckabee held a news conference at the state Capitol to announce a program known as ATTIC — Arkansas Tsunami Tax Incentive Credit. (more…)
